Field Force Deployment - a Lesson Learned

It is not very often that I come across an article that grabs my attention but this one has. The main article is all about a large field force deployment project in the electricity utility, Exelon, and describes their journey from concept to delivery. A journey that has taken them over 4 years to complete at a cost of $40 million.

What got my attention is the lessons learned and the fact that they sum up my personal and business experiences perfectly.
  • New business processes must be paperless,
  • Do your homework,
  • Don't rush the deployment - take your organisation and staff with you on the journey.
Despite projects like this one having the "technology" label, its implementation really isn't rocket science. Take on board the experience of others and you won't go far wrong.
